1) Disc milling cutter
Normally fix milling blade or cutting bit on a disc shape tool body; it is used for milling large size face, the efficiency of disc milling cutter is very high, with good rigidity CNC milling machine, it can do heavy duty cutting.
2) End milling cutter, end milling cutter is one of most used tools for CNC milling machine, it is widely used for processing surface face parts, below figure is two kind most used end milling tools, except milling end face with end blades, it can also do size milling with side blades, sometime, end blades and side blades do milling at the same time, end milling cutter is also called as cylinder mill cutter.
3) Formed milling cutter, formed milling cutters are designed and built for some special workpieces or works, it is suitable for milling special shape face, such as angle face, groove face and etc. it also can machine special holes or stage, below figure shows some common formed milling cutters.
4) Ball end milling cutter, with a ball shape head, it is suitable for cutting parts with space curve, sometimes, it can also machine the concave arc of some connecting position in large parts, below figure is a common ball end milling cutter.
6) Drum head milling cutter, below figure is a typical drum head milling cutter.
Beside above milling cutters, CNC milling machine can also use milling cutters used on traditional milling machine, but as there is tool drawing device equipped inside of spindle, or due to different spindle taper, so it needs tool holder.
