Thanks to machine tools models naming standard, we can tell different machine just by its model name, a model name can indicate machine type, characteristic, main parameters and etc. Nowadays, Chinese machine tools models are named according to standard JB1838-85(metal cutting machine tools models naming method),which was launched in 1985.
Names of common machine tools are composed by type-group-series and main parameters, it contains Chinese Pinyin letters and numbers.JB1838-85 use capital letter of Pinyin to indicate machine type and characteristic. Machine tools type and it's pronunciation refer to table 1-1;General characteristic refer to table 1-2.

Use two numbers to indicate machine tools group, series number. Use main parameter,secondary parameter to divide a ratio to express machine tools' specifications. Choose A,B,C......orderly to indicate large improvement of machine tools. Take CW6163 for instance, it horizontal lathe with Max. swing over carriage 630mm. Another sample, DK7740, it is D for special machine, DK77 is wire cut EDM,40 is the table travel of X direction.
